Editorial Expression of Concern to: Oncogene https://doi.org/10.1038/sj.onc.1205664, published online 13 August 2002
The Editors-in-Chief would like to alert the readers that concerns were raised regarding some of the data presented in the Figures, specifically:
Fig. 3 DcR2 IGF-1 and IL-6 plots appear highly similar.
Fig. 5c Akt lanes 2-4 and Cytosolic FKHRL-1 lanes 4 and 6 appear highly similar to Fig. 5d tubulin lanes 1-3, FKHRL-1 lane 2, and p-Thr32-FKHRL-1 lane 2, respectively.
Fig. 6 IGF-1 Bcl-2 and tubulin blots appear highly similar.
Fig. 7b and 11c tubulin blots appear highly similar.
Additionally, the legend of Fig. 3 contains an error and should read, “Unshaded curves depict isotype control staining, and shaded peaks correspond to staining with the respective TRAIL receptor Abs”.
Due to the age of the article and figure resolution, a comprehensive analysis of the blots listed above could not provide conclusive results. Although the raised issues do not affect the conclusions of the article, readers are advised to interpret these figures with caution.
