Dear Editor

Some of the panels in Figure 8 (the histology photomicrographs for intestinal injury after hemorrhagic shock [HS] in rats treated with either vehicle, GW9662 or GW9662 plus 15dPGJ2) in Shock 2004;22(6):555–561 were inadvertently duplicated. Because of the age of the article, the authors no longer have the original raw data for these panels to correct the figure. We request the reader to ignore all data relating to the intestinal injury in HS (Fig. 8). It should be noted that this mistake does not affect the conclusions outlined in the discussion, namely that a) the PPAR-γ ligand 15d-PGJ2 attenuated renal dysfunction, liver and lung injury caused by hemorrhage and resuscitation; b) these effects of 15d-PGJ2 are PPAR-γ dependent, as they were reduced by the PPAR-γ antagonist GW9662; and c) endogenous ligands of PPAR-γ are being produced in HS in sufficient amounts to protect the liver against injury.
