CRiMS Industrial Engineering UNS Participates in International Conference in Melaka, Malaysia

UNS – The Center for Research in Manufacturing Systems (CRiMS) from the Industrial Engineering Department of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, represented by Prof. Dr. Cucuk Nur Rosyidi, S.T., M.T.; Prof. Dr. Ir. Eko Pujiyanto, S.Si., M.T., IPM; Dr.Eng. Pringgo Widyo Laksono, S.T., M.Eng.; and Dr. Wakhid Ahmad Jauhari, S.T., M.T., attended the International Manufacturing Engineering Conference, Asia Pacific Conference on Manufacturing Systems (IMEC-APCOMS) 2024. The conference took place from Wednesday (11/9/2024) to Thursday (12/9/2024) at the Imperial Heritage Hotel in Melaka, Malaysia.

This year’s IMEC-APCOMS conference was themed “Sustainable Development Goals Through Innovative Manufacturing Engineering,” with research areas covering manufacturing systems, mechatronics for manufacturing, manufacturing design, materials for manufacturing, manufacturing processes, and materials. IMEC-APCOMS serves as a platform for researchers, academics, scientists, engineers, practitioners, and students from around the world to exchange knowledge, especially in global manufacturing technology.

Several UNS Industrial Engineering students, from undergraduate to doctoral levels, presented their papers at the conference. The participants included Andreas Wegiq Adia Hendix, Engelbert Harsandi Erik Suryadarma, Saufik Luthfianto, Sugoro Bhakti Sutono, Yudha Adi Kusuma, Cristin Angel, Issacian Mutiara Paska, Ilham Fairuzaman, Rahmat Herpradipto, and Sekar Zaneta Amirulputri.

IMEC-APCOMS 2024 was hosted by Universiti Malaysia Pahang AL-Sultan Abdullah, in collaboration with several other universities, including Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Kasetsart University, Universitas Trisakti, and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). Keynote speakers at the event included Dr. Ir. Anas Ma’ruf, M.T. from the Faculty of Industrial Technology ITB, Prof. Dr. Cucuk Nur Rosyidi from UNS’s Department of Industrial Engineering, and Prof. Ir. Dr. Haji Nik Mohd Zuki Nik Mohamed from the Faculty of Manufacturing and Mechatronics Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Pahang AL-Sultan Abdullah.

The conference was officially opened by TS. Dr. Nafrizuan Mat Yahya, Chairman of IMEC-APCOMS 2024, and Prof. TS. Dr. Aida Mustapha, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang AL-Sultan Abdullah.

During the event, Dr. Ir. Anas Ma’ruf, M.T. presented his research titled “Flexible Assembly Line Design: From Mass Production to Mass Customization,” followed by Prof. Dr. Cucuk Nur Rosyidi, S.T., M.T., who presented his research titled “A Fuzzy Blood Supply Chain Network Design Model by Considering Lateral Transhipment and Blood Substitution.” The agenda continued with a product showcase from MITS Asia, Hands-On Vibration Training by Marcello Ferreira, and more paper presentations by participants, along with the third keynote speaker session.

“Paper presentations were conducted in parallel sessions, where participants, acting as presenters, were divided into several rooms to present their research in front of moderators and other presenters,” Issa, one of the UNS students presenting a paper, said on Tuesday (24/9/2024).

The first day of the event (11/9/2024) concluded with a presentation by Prof. Ir. Dr. Haji Nik Mohd Zuki Nik Mohamed on his research titled “SME Employees’ Awareness Level on Lean Manufacturing and Ergonomics Implementation in Malaysia and Indonesia.” On Thursday (12/9/2024), the event continued with more parallel sessions and the awarding of the best paper presenters.

“Through this event, we hope to increase the enthusiasm of researchers and students to develop their knowledge in international forums continuously. This event also demonstrates the commitment of the five collaborating universities to routinely hold IMEC-APCOMS in the coming years,” Prof. Cucuk explained .
