UNS – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta hosted the Work Meeting of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Management 2024 for the Communication Forum (or Forkom) Field 2 of State FKIPs across Indonesia. The event was held from Friday to Sunday (12-14/7/2024) at the Novotel Hotel Solo.

In her report, Dr. Dewi Kusuma Wardani, M.Si., who is the Chair of the Work Meeting of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Management 2024 committee for the Communication Forum and also the Vice Dean for Human Resources, Finance, and Logistics at FKIP UNS, revealed that the event received outstanding participation from Forkom members.

“This event was attended by 63 participants from 25 universities, or 73,5% of the total Forkom FKIP Negeri members across Indonesia, consisting of Deans, Vice Deans of Field 2, PPG Coordinators, and PPG Teams. This extraordinary participation reflects a high commitment to improving the quality of education in Indonesia,” Dr. Dewi said.

The Chair of Forkom FKIP Negeri across Indonesia, Prof. Dr. M. Rusdi, S.Pd., M.Sc., stated in his speech that this event serves as a platform to discuss the implementation of the mandates given by the ministry.

“The Forkom work meeting is expected to be a discussion forum for sharing experiences so that the mandates given to FKIP by the ministry can be carried out well. If the mandates are well executed, it will foster trust to carry out subsequent mandates for the advancement of education in Indonesia,” Prof. Rusdi said.

There were four topics discussed at the Work Meeting of Field 2 of State FKIPs 2024. These four topics were discussed with five related speakers and divided into two sessions. The first session took place on Friday evening (12/7/2024). Two speakers were presented in this session.

The first speaker was Prof. Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si., the Dean of FKIP UNS. He presented material on the first topic regarding Budgeting Strategies for Achieving Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and International Accreditation. The second speaker was Dr. A.G. Tamrin, M.Pd., M.Si., the Chair of Forkom PPG across Indonesia. He presented material on the second topic regarding PPG Quality Assurance.

The second session was held on Saturday (13/7/2024). In this session, three speakers were present. The first speaker was Ferry Maulana Putra, S.Pd., M.Ed., the Acting Director of PPG. The second speaker was Adhika Ganendra, S.Si., M.M., the Head of the Educational Financing Service Center at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). Both speakers presented material on “the Management of Pre-service and In-service PPG, Challenges, and Expectations”.

The final speaker was Dido Sujana Perwedha, the Commitment Making Official at the Directorate of Teacher Professional Education. He presented material on PPG Financial Accountability.

The Acting Rector of UNS, Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H., welcomed the implementation of the Forkom Field 2 FKIP Work Meeting in Surakarta. She stated that this event is a moment to exchange ideas in the effort to develop professional teachers.

“Forkom activities are a moment to exchange thoughts on developing PPG to produce competent teachers. The challenges of the times require us to continuously produce quality teachers. This event can provide a common perception in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. With good synergy, it is hoped to create good cooperation among PPG organizers,” Dr. Chatarina said.
