In this study, we introduce an electrocatalytic reaction for hydrogenating alkynes to Z-alkenes, showcasing remarkable efficiency along with high chem- and stereoselectivity. Control experiments show that hydrogen mainly derived from the solvent, supporting a mechanism involving palladium-catalyzed continuous hydrogen adsorption and transfer under cathodic conditions. The synthetic value of the product, the mild and green nature of the method, and the successful gram-scale experiments all suggest that this method holds potential for industrial applications.
