UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has achieved a commendable 4,5 Trees Rating in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2024, reinforcing its commitment to being a green campus. The certification was officially presented to UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr. M.Si., by the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking Team at the Dr. Prakosa Building, UNS, on Thursday (19/12/2024).

Prof. Hartono emphasized that this score places UNS among universities recognized for their dedication to sustainability and environmental preservation. “A 4,5 Trees Rating signifies the campus’s strong commitment to implementing sustainable initiatives and contributing to the surrounding environment,” he stated.

This achievement reflects significant efforts by UNS to enhance campus environmental quality through initiatives such as tree planting, energy-efficient management, and promoting eco-friendly lifestyles among students, faculty, and staff. UNS also continues to expand green open spaces and improve waste management systems, aligning with its vision of becoming a sustainable university.

“With this accomplishment, UNS serves as a model for other universities, encouraging them to adopt and develop more robust environmental initiatives to support sustainable development goals,” Prof. Hartono added.

UI GreenMetric is a global ranking system initiated by Universitas Indonesia (UI) to evaluate universities’ commitment to sustainability and reducing environmental impact. The assessment includes several criteria, such as energy management, waste management, eco-friendly transportation, and the preservation of green open spaces on campus.
