Bengawan Formula Student UNS Secures Two Podium Finishes at the 2024 Formula SAE Italy

UNSThe Bengawan Formula Student team from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has achieved impressive results at the 2024 Formula SAE Italy competition. The event took place at the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti Circuit in Varano de’ Melegari, Italy, from Wednesday (4/9/2024) to Sunday (8/9/2024).

At the 2024 Formula SAE Italy, the Bengawan Formula Student UNS team secured second place in the Business Presentation Event and the Cost & Manufacturing Event. Additionally, the team ranked seventh in the Design Event, fourth in the Endurance category, and achieved 10th place Overall. These accomplishments placed them ahead of several teams from prestigious universities worldwide.

Delon Sasongko, General Manager of the Bengawan Formula Student UNS team, explained that Formula SAE Italy is an international student formula race car competition organized by SAE International and the Associazione Nazionale Filiera Industria Automobilistica (ANFIA). This year’s competition featured 63 teams from various countries, including Italy, India, Turkey, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Germany, France, Switzerland, Estonia, Finland, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Austria, Poland, Indonesia, and others.

“This achievement by the Bengawan Formula Student UNS team is the result of hard work and dedication. The team earned second place in the Business Presentation Event and the Cost Event, seventh place in the Design Event, and 10th place Overall at Formula ATA in Italy. The team also passed all Technical Inspections and secured fourth place in the Endurance Event. These results demonstrate that our car meets high safety standards for motorsports. This experience motivates the team to continue innovating and developing its potential in the future,” Delon Sasongko said on Monday (23/9/2024).

The Bengawan Formula Student UNS team expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Embassy in Italy for their support, including providing essential food supplies during the competition. The team also thanked UNS, the Indonesian community in Italy, sponsors, and others for their prayers, support, and contributions, which helped the team achieve success and represent UNS and Indonesia on the international stage.

“We hope that this support and hard work will continue for future generations of the Bengawan Formula Student UNS team to encourage even more achievements for UNS students,” Delon added.

Prof. Agung Tri Wijayanta and Prof. Ubaidillah, advisors to the Bengawan Formula Student UNS team, expressed their hopes for next year, aiming for a female driver and a top-three finish in the Endurance category. “I hope the team continues to act with integrity to achieve maximum results. Let’s conquer Europe in 2025,” Prof. Ubaidillah said.
