Bengawan UV Team UNS Launches Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Ahead of 2024 KRTI Competition

UNSThe Bengawan Unmanned Vehicle (UV) Team from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta introduced its teams and launched the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that will compete in the Kontes Robot Terbang Indonesia 2024 (KRTI), or Indonesian Flying Robot Contest. The launch, held on the front lawn of the Dr. Prakosa Building, UNS Rectorate, took place on Monday (9/9/2024) and was attended by UNS leadership. The competition is scheduled for October 12–19, 2024, at Gading Airfield, Yogyakarta.

Four teams were introduced to the UNS academic community during the event. The first team, Akasha Seva BUV, led by Wahyu Heriyanto, a student from the Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNS, will compete in the Technology Development division. Their UAV, Akasha Seva, secured second place in the regional competition.

The second team, Akasha Bhatara BUV, led by Ahmad Tauhid Irfansyah, a student from the Physics Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNS, will compete in the Vertical Take-Off Landing (VTOL) division.

The third team, Bamantara BUV, led by Ryan Aditya Nandana from the Electrical Engineering Department, FT UNS, will compete in the Fixed Wing division. Their UAV, Bamantara, also won second place in the regional selection.

The fourth team, Narash BUV, led by Irfan Nahar Hidayat, also from the Electrical Engineering Department, will compete in the Racing Plane division. Their UAV, Ares, took first place in the regional competition.

The regional KRTI 2024 selection, in which the Bengawan UV teams participated, was organized by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) under the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). Based on the regional results, BPTI announced the regional winners and finalists for KRTI 2024.

UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the team’s efforts. He stated his pride in the Bengawan UV Team’s consistent national and international achievements, and pledged full support in providing the necessary resources to ensure success in the upcoming competition.

“We fully support the team’s participation in KRTI 2024 to achieve the best results,” Prof. Hartono said.

General Manager of Bengawan UV Team UNS, Daffa Putra Islami, explained that they have been participating in KRTI since 2017. The competition is divided into two phases: the regional selection and the final round. The launch event also served as an appreciation to all those who have supported the team’s research and competition journey.

“The results from the regional selection serve as motivation for all UNS teams to achieve the best possible outcome in the KRTI 2024 final at Gading Airfield, Yogyakarta,” Daffa said.

The participation of UNS students in KRTI 2024 is expected to contribute to the achievement of Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 2. KRTI is a national-level competition involving teams from various universities across Indonesia, providing valuable external campus experience for UNS students. Winning at KRTI 2024 would be a significant accomplishment for the UNS community.
