UNS – The Radiology Specialist Education Program (PPDS) at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, recently hosted Prof. Suresh Kumar Mukherji, MD, MBA, FACR, an international expert from the Department of Radiology at the University of Illinois-Peoria, for International Lecture event. The event took place at the UNS Medical Faculty Auditorium.
The lecture was held in a hybrid format, with 100 participants attending in person and another 100 joining online. Attendees included staff and students from the UNS Radiology PPDS program, as well as students from radiology programs across Indonesia under the Kolegium Radiologi Indonesia, or Indonesia Radiology Board.
Prof. Suresh delivered presentations on two topics: “Emergency Head and Neck Radiology: What To Expect At Night” and “Pediatric Head and Neck Radiology.” He discussed complex and emergency cases that can arise unexpectedly, emphasizing the need for radiologists to be able to handle such situations and provide accurate descriptions of these emergencies.
Dr. Diah Kurnia Mirawati, the Acting Vice Dean of Human Resources, Finance, and Logistics at the UNS Medical Faculty, expressed her appreciation for the event. She highlighted the benefits of learning from international experts and hoped participants would gain valuable insights.
“I highly appreciate the initiative taken by the Radiology PPDS program to organize this International Lecture, as it broadens our knowledge in the field of healthcare, particularly radiology. I hope the participants can fully absorb the knowledge shared by the speaker,” she stated on Wednesday (4/9/2024).
According to Dr. Rachmi Fauziah Rahayu, Sp. Rad (K) N-KL, Head of the Radiology PPDS program at UNS, the purpose of the event was to enhance understanding of emergency cases and pediatric head and neck radiology.
“My highest appreciation goes to the committee and everyone involved in making this event special from start to finish. I hope all participants gained valuable knowledge from this lecture. We look forward to the possibility of having Prof. Suresh return as a Visiting Professor in our Radiology program,” she added.
