UNS – The Australian Embassy in Indonesia, in collaboration with the Australian Consulate-General in Surabaya, has partnered with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta to launch the #AussieBanget Corner in the Surakarta area, Central Java. The launch of #AussieBanget Corner coincides with the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Australia and Indonesia. Located on the 4th floor of the UNS Library, the #AussieBanget Corner is expected to serve as a valuable resource for the university community, offering insights into Australia as well as key information about studying in Australia, including the Australia Awards scholarship programs.
“Education has long been the foundation of the relationship between Australia and Indonesia. We are proud to bring #AussieBanget Corner to UNS. This launch underscores our ongoing commitment to fostering educational cooperation and marks an important diplomatic milestone,” Steve said in his opening remarks.
The Interim Consul-General of Australia in Surabaya also expressed that the #AussieBanget Corner will continue to be developed and enhanced according to needs, with future additions ranging from print books to digital media. Steve further hoped that the #AussieBanget Corner would be beneficial and that its presence would be maintained collaboratively.
In his speech, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., extended his gratitude to the organizing committee, the Australian Embassy, the UNS Library, and the UNS International Office for their hard work and dedication in making this program a reality.
“I am proud that UNS has been allowed to host #AussieBanget Corner in Surakarta. This initiative will strengthen our goal of providing quality education for students. Through #AussieBanget Corner, students will also have broader opportunities to explore study options, especially in Australia,” Prof. Irwan said.
Prof. Irwan also expressed his hopes of seeing more UNS students pursue further studies in Australia. He emphasized that UNS would warmly welcome Australian students who wish to experience academic and cultural life at UNS through student exchange programs or double degree opportunities.
