In the abstract of this article the line ‘Gut microbiota analysis revealed that TMAO induced changes in the intestinal microbial community structure, manifested as reduced microbiota diversity and beneficial bacteria.’ should have appeared as ‘Gut microbiota analysis revealed that TMAO induced changes in the intestinal microbial community structure, manifested as reduced beneficial bacteria’.

In Fig. 2e of this article the EdU representative pictures of the 300 μM TMAO-treated cells was incorrect, and as a result Fig. 2g was also incorrect:

Figure 2e, g should have appeared as shown below:

As a consequence of the correction to Fig. 2e, in Sect. 3.2 the line “CON 36.33 ± 0.85% vs. 300 μM 47.01 ± 0.73%, p < 0.001” should have appeared as “CON 36.33 ± 0.85% vs. 300 μM 46.26 ± 0.54%, p < 0.001”.

In Section 3.4 the line ‘A total of 412 OTUs was detected in this study. The TMAO group had fewer unique OTUs (23) than the control group (33).’ should have appeared as ‘A total of 412 OTUs sharing in the two groups was detected in this study. The control group had fewer unique OTUs (23) than the TMAO group (33).’

In Section 3.4 the line ‘TMAO intervention resulted in a higher abundance of Firmicutes and Actinobacteria, as well as the absence of Bacteroidetes, thereby bringing down the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio.’ should have appeared as ‘TMAO intervention resulted in a higher abundance of Firmicutes and Actinobacteria, as well as the absence of Bacteroidetes, thereby increasing the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio.’
