Training Home Care Workers Reduces Emergency Room Service Utilization

Susan A. Chapman, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, is a Professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Nursing at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Her scholarly work focuses on health workforce research and health policy analysis with a focus on aging and long-term care, emerging roles in the health workforce, workforce diversity and equity, and behavioral health.

Melinda T. Neri, BA, is a Research Associate, Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, School of Nursing at University of California, San Francisco. Her primary work centers on the development of content for Elsevier's online training of home care workers.

Robert J. Newcomer, PhD, is Professor Emeritus, Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences, School of Nursing at University of California, San Francisco. He collaborated with the State of California in a comprehensive analysis of the home- and community-based services in the state. He collaborates with Elsevier publishing in the development and provision of online training for home care workers.
