Cognition in the wild: understanding animal thought in its natural context

Alexandra Rosati is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Anthropology at the University of Michigan, where she directs the Cognitive Evolution Group. She received a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Anthropology from Duke University. Her research focuses on the evolution and development of cognition and behavior across primate species, including apes, macaques and lemurs.

Zarin Machanda is the Usen Family Career Development Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Tufts University. She is also the Co-Director of the Kibale Chimpanzee Project. She received her Ph.D. in Human Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University. Her research focuses on wild chimpanzee behavior including understanding the importance of long-term social bonds, cooperation and development.

Katie Slocombe is a Professor of Psychology at the University of York, UK. She received a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of St Andrews, UK. Her research focuses on the evolution and development of communication, cognition and behavior across primate species, including humans, chimpanzees and macaques.
