The Impact of Nursing Education on Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Prevention Bundle to Reduce Incidence of Infection: A Quality Improvement Project

Aubrey Alfano, DNP, RN, CCRN, is doctor of nursing practice student, University of Michigan–Flint. A graduate from the University of Michigan-Flint currently working as a nurse practitioner in the trauma department at a Level 2 Trauma center in Michigan. She has a special passion for critical care management. Outside of her work, her hobbies include hunting and spending time with family.

Katherine Riddle, DNP, AGACNP-BC, is doctor of nursing practice student, University of Michigan–Flint. A University of Michigan-Flint graduate. After graduation she was hired into the neurology department at a hospital in Michigan, where she serves the downriver community for both inpatient and outpatient neurologic conditions. She is a wife and mother of two who spends most of her downtime with her family.

Kyle Nordstrom, DNP, RN, upon graduating from University of Michigan-Flint was hired into a Level 2 trauma center in Michigan. He covers trauma and general surgery services. When not at work, he enjoys playing and listening to music, watching sports, and spending time with his wife, cat, dog, family and friends.

Roxanne Buterakos, DNP, RN, PNP-BC, AG-ACNP-BC, is associate professor, School of Nursing, University of Michigan–Flint. A nurse for 31 years and a nurse practitioner for 28 years, Dr. Buterakos has experience in burn critical care, trauma critical care, pediatrics, pediatric critical care, trauma surgery, general surgery, bariatric surgery, endocrinology and academia. She has been on faculty at the University of Michigan- Flint for 7 years, is a tenured associate professor, and the lead faculty for the acute care program. She is committed to student engagement, competency skills, and activities to prepare new graduates for their future careers. She feels that better patient care and outcomes correlate to challenging, academic programs for NP students.

Megan Keiser, DNP, RN, CNRN, SCRN, CHSE, ACNS-BC, NP-C, is director of Undergraduate Affairs and associate professor, School of Nursing, University of Michigan–Flint. A nurse for 37 years and a nurse practitioner for 33 years, Dr. Keiser has experience in critical care and academia. She has been on faculty at the University of Michigan- Flint for 10 years, is a tenured professor, and the Director of Undergraduate Nursing Affairs. She is committed to enhancing patient outcomes through research in academic, acute care, and community settings.
