Current Knowledge of Immunosuppression as a Risk Factor for Skin Cancer Development

María Paz Rollan is a recently graduated dermatologist of Universidad del Desarrollo-Clínica Alemana, Santiago, Chile. She received the honor-scholarship for being the best student of her class.

Dr. Raúl Cabrera is Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at Universidad del Desarrollo-Clínica Alemana de Santiago de Chile. He did a fellowship in Immunodermatology at the Department of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, USA, and has published many articles in prestigious medical journals in the fields of immunodermatology, skin cancer and dermatoscopy. Dr. Cabrera is member of the Chilean Society of Immunology and the Chilean Society of Allergy and Immunology. He became president of the Chilean Society of Dermatology in 2002-2004 and president of the Latin American Annual Meeting (R.A.D.L.A) in 2006. He has been a member of the Ibero-Latin American College of Dermatology (C.I.L.A.D) since 1986, and its scientific director from 2008-2012. Dr. Cabrera has been a member of the American Academy of Dermatology since 1990, and member of the Committee on International Affairs of the American Academy of Dermatology 1993-1997. He is member of the following editorial boards: “Dermatología Argentina”, “Revista Chilena de Dermatología”, “European Medical Journal of Dermatology”, “Treatment Strategies-Dermatology”, “Dermatología CMQ, de México”, “ Revista Chilena de Dermatología” and was an editorial board member for the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology the years 2004-2012. He is member of the International Dermoscopy Society. Member of the board of directors of the International League of Dermatology (ILDS) and chair of the ILDS Guidelines Steering Committee (2016-2019). Member of the Scientific Committee of the World Congress of Dermatology, Milan 2019.

Dr Robet A. Schwartz is a third generation Californian who is in his 37th year as Professor & Head, Dermatology, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is a Director, International Society of Dermatology, a member of the American Academy of Dermatology Advisory Board and Honorary Professor at Sree Balaji Medical College, Chennai and at China Medical University in Shenyang. He is a Member and Co-Chair, Global Subcommittee, US Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, Washington, D.C., and an Overseas Regional Advisor, Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh). Dr. Schwartz is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley, B.A. (Political Science); Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) and of New York Medical College, M.D. Professor Schwartz has had a longtime interest in HIV/AIDS. In 1981, he led one of the three groups that first described AIDS-associated Kaposi's sarcoma. He has written 65 publications on Kaposi’s sarcoma, including a breakthrough therapy for Kaposi's sarcoma as well as original descriptions of Kaposi's sarcoma subtypes. An international authority on paraneoplastic syndromes and cutaneous oncology, Professor Schwartz first described florid cutaneous papillomatosis, also known as the Schwartz-Burgess syndrome. He is an Associate Editor of Cutis, Acta Derm Venerol Croatica, Mycoses, Gulf J Dermatol, and Dermatol Ther. He is an Honorary Member of the dermatologic societies of more than 20 countries, including Italy, Czech, Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Korea, Germany, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan, Vietnam, Georgia, Latvia, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Turkey. He has written 5 books, 325 book chapters, 620 full articles, and more than 250 abstracts and other publications.
