With our sincere thanks: Farewell to Manuela Simoni and welcome to Aleksander Giwercman

Dear Colleagues,

The first issue of Andrology in 2022 will see a change in its editorial structure, which is in accordance with the journal's governance.

First of all, we are sad to bid farewell to Dr. Manuela Simoni who is stepping down from her function of Editor-in-Chief of Andrology, which she held for the past 2 years. Previously, she was co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal together with Doug Carell from January 2017 to December 2019. Manuela is a professor of endocrinology at the University of Modena, Italy, and a recognized expert in the field of andrology. Throughout her 5 years tenure as editor, Manuela has provided incredible leadership which has been vital to the increasing quality, growth, and success of this journal. Her dedication and hard work continued the efforts of our past editors and past/present associate editors to produce a journal that is both clinically relevant and scientifically rigorous. As a result, Andrology recently showed a significant rise in impact factor and is preeminent in the field of male reproduction and physiology. We therefore extend our gratitude with great respect and admiration to a wonderful colleague, knowing that her tenure has made a real difference. Manuela will be succeeded by Marie-Claude Hofmann, PhD, who was Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the past 2 years.

We also heartedly welcome Dr. Aleksander Giwercman, MD, appointed by the European Academy of Andrology (EAA), to continue in Marie-Claude's position. Aleksander is currently a professor of reproductive medicine at Lund University and Senior Consultant as well as EAA Center Director at Skane University Hospital Malmö, Sweden. He is an expert in many aspects of andrology, including infertility, testosterone deficiency, and sperm DNA fragmentation. His research group is also focusing on reproductive aspects of cancer and cancer treatment in young males, in particular the impact of cancer and cancer treatment on semen quality of these men and, subsequently, on the production of testosterone. He is also heavily involved in coordinating ReproUnion–the Danish-Swedish research network within the area of reproductive medicine. Accordingly, Aleksander will now begin his service to the journal as Deputy Editor-in-Chief and will be appointed Editor-in-Chief in 2 years. We are looking forward to working with such a dedicated and competent andrologist.

It has been our honor and privilege to work with our Associate Editors and the Editorial Board to edit Andrology. We hope that this fruitful cooperation continues. Andrology does best when authors submit their most novel data, refer papers, are willing to edit special issues, serve on our boards, and encourage their colleagues to do the same. The objective of Andrology is to continue to be the preeminent journal in its field.

The editorial team thanks you for your trust and wishes all our authors and readers a wonderful 2022!

Marie-Claude Hofmann, PhD, Editor-in-Chief

Aleksander Giwercman, MD, Deputy Editor
