In parallel with the British Neuroscience Association (BNA)'s annual Festival of Neuroscience conference, on April 21–23, 2021, the BNA hosted the public Bring Your Own Brain (#BYOB) Festival of Neuroscience, a 3-day event with the goal of bringing together scientists and the general public to share knowledge about neuroscience beyond the laboratory. Scientific research is often conveyed to the general public through the mass media, whereas the #BYOB Festival was an opportunity to hear directly from the researchers themselves, giving a feeling of openness and respectability. Fake news was not invited.
