UNS—The Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag RI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The signing ceremony was conducted in person by Indonesia’s Minister of Trade, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., and UNS Rector, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., at the G.P.H Haryo Mataram Auditorium on Thursday (31/10/2024).

In his remarks, Prof. Hartono explained that the MoU between UNS and Kemendag RI aligns with the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education and the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative. He hoped this partnership would be a positive step for UNS to actively contribute to national trade policy.

“We hope that through this collaboration, UNS can play a more active role in developing young talent to support trade policies that positively impact the nation,” Prof. Hartono remarked.

He emphasized the importance of synergy between academia and practitioners, particularly government, to foster the development of young talent and benefit society at large.

“This MoU marks the beginning of a stronger partnership between academia and the government, especially in research, human resource development, and various activities that will benefit society. We hope this collaboration strengthens the synergy between UNS and the Ministry of Trade and steers the country toward greater economic progress,” Prof. Hartono added.

The scope of the MoU includes areas such as Research, Education, and Community Service; Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM); Entrepreneurship and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); and other mutually agreed fields. The MoU will remain in effect for five years from the date of signing.
