Updated Neonatal Resuscitation Guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association

In late 2023, two important guideline updates were published by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association. The first publication covers umbilical cord management at birth appropriate for specific gestational ages (preterm, late preterm, and term newborns) and device selection for administering positive-pressure ventilation. The second publication focuses on when to use neonatal or pediatric resuscitation guidelines from the perspective of four types of approaches: location-based, age-based, patient-based, and provider-based. A synopsis of the updated guidelines is provided.
