Recurrent thunderclap headache after endovascular embolization of pial AV malformation by onyx material

Thunderclap headache refers to an excruciating headache of abrupt onset, often described by the patients as the “worst headache of his/her life”. Thunderclap headache among children is a rare entity. Contrary to adults, most thunderclap headaches are primary [1]. We present a 10-year-old boy who had recurrent thunderclap headache after endovascular embolization of pial arteriovenous malformation. We discuss the differential diagnosis and management of post-embolization thunderclap headaches.
