Disrespectful maternity care continues to be experienced, especially by members of minorized groups. A recent study that highlights this ongoing issue is reviewed. Nurses provide the vast majority of direct maternity care in the United States, so they are in an ideal position to be role models for respectful maternity care and to take the lead in making sure it is routine practice in the care of all those who give birth.
