Wolfgang Junger, a professor of surgery at the University of California San Diego, Harvard Medical School, and a visiting professor in the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Traumatology in Vienna, Austria, has been studying purinergic-signaling mechanisms in neutrophils and other immune cells subsets. His group has contributed to a better understanding of the autocrine purinergic feedback mechanisms that regulate these immune cells and how infections, trauma, and other inflammatory conditions that
