Swagat!

Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it – Lou Holz

Writing the first editorial from the desk of Editor in Chief of JMH, find it challenging to fill in the big shoes of our predecessors Dr. Meeta Singh and Dr. Vishal Tandon immediate past Editors in Chief, who have done a tremendous job of taking the journal to greater heights. At the same time, it is an exciting path which was a dream to sail through.

As they say, we always ride on the shoulder of the giants and those giants with us are our associate editors and we welcome Dr. Atul Munshi and Dr. Ruchika Garg.

We have a stronger team of editors by addition of two new members to our editorial team Dr. Tripura Sundari and Dr. Choranur Ambuja along with Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Reeti Mehra, Dr. Lakshmi Ratna, and Dr. Navneet Takkar.

We take this opportunity to thank all past editors of JMH who are still a great support and guiding torch bearers – as advisors of the team.

Our international editors and advisors remain the same.

With this very learned and experienced team, we would explore new horizons and reach greater heights.

For our academic readers in this issue, we have covered a vast array of original articles, review articles, case studies, and letter to editor along with a thought-provoking short communication, covering all facets of Mid-life Health.

For public awareness we need tool kits to assess. QOL (quality of life) issues of Mid-life women. These tool kits should be in the language of women we are dealing with. India is a land of diversity in languages to overcome this barrier we need MENQOL questionnaire in local languages and in orginal article 'Translation, Reliability, and Validity Test of Odia Version of Menopause-Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire' authors have translated this tool to Odia language and validated this tool.We expect more researchers translating the MENQOL Questionnaire into different languages and increase our reach to the public at large and give a better life to all our midlife and menopausal women.

Mid-life involves lots of health issues because of hypoestrogenic state including oral health and bone health, so these original studies are included in this issue. Looking into magnitude of osteoporosis as public health problem and interfering with QOL and increased mortality and morbidity in mid-life women, we have incorporated a meta-analysis regarding this issue. We are bringing out a meta-analysis on this topic whether menopause per se is responsible for this condition.

Original article by Phuc Nhon Nguyen from Vietnam on “doppler and B Mode USG in intra uterine pathologies, differentiating benign and malignant” would encourage gynaecologists to perform their own diagnostic ultrasonography on their patients.

Urinary problems increase both in perimenopause and postmenopause, and the original article by author Sharma JB et al on incontinence severity index has been proved to be of use in deciding treatment modalities for these patients and can be practiced in daily practice.

Transobturator tape has been through so many controversies, but in this original article, we are sharing is a testimony to our own experience in Indian settings which reassures us that we can use them safely, as there is a 5-year follow-up.

One part of physical activity is that it should be effective and feasible, Taichi is a low-impact slow exercise, and Taichi exercise routine has proved to be effective in sleep, QOL, and physical performance in postmenopausal women and it can be practiced safely in community settings and increase socialization also.
