Information Fields of Written Texts Protect Cells From Oxidative Damage and Accelerate Repair

Traditional Indian knowledge of the Tantric Yoga suggests specific geometric forms, such as yantras, have therapeutic value. The controversial research of Emoto1 suggests that Japanese words wrapped around a vial of water affected its crystallization patterns. More recently, Kumar2 showed that a 2D Sriyantra geometric pattern modulated seed sprouting.

It is unknown if this observed phenomenon was caused by the specific patterns used in the studies or by the operators carrying out the experiments. To avoid the “experimenter effect”, our previous study was conducted using a double-blind method to ensure that operators involved in the study were not aware of the content of each treatment3. We found that Chinese texts with a positive meaning including “love, compassion, respect, joy, good health, and positive energy” significantly increased the production of ATP in energy metabolism, and the activity of the cellular antioxidant compound glutathione (GSH), whereas another group of texts containing words “hatred, atrocity, selfishness, resentment, sadness, disease and negative energy” significantly reduced the cell growth rate of M1 mouse kidney cells. Thus, different written words in Chinese produced specific effects on biochemical and physiological parameters. Although the mechanisms involved in such phenomena are unknown, biological systems appear to be responsive to subtle signal generated from certain geometric shapes and patterns.

Since all objects emit black body radiation, in principle these electromagnetic (EM) emissions could influence animate or inanimate objects near them due to the fact that the emitted EM fields carry information about their source4. Our hypothesis is that information fields associated with different words will produce specific biological effects in accordance to the meaning of the words.

Whether such characters can repair damaged cells is a subject worthy of exploring. This time, in addition to the Chinese texts with positive meaning (love, compassion, respect, joy, good health, and positive energy) that we utilized in our previous work3, we also added the word “Buddha” for the unique information field it demonstrated during the “finger reading” experiments conducted by blind-folded kids5.

In this study, we chose the human embryonic kidney cell line HEK293T because the kidney has a very important place in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as it is the primary organ where Qi is stored6. Qi refers to the life force or innate essence which travels throughout the body within the acupuncture meridian system. .

We used H2O2 to produce oxidative cell damage so we could investigate the potential therapeutic reparative effects of these texts on injured cells. Possible effects on energy metabolism and antioxidant capacity of the cells were investigated given the importance of mitochondria as a portal to receive, process and integrate energy and information6. We also measured the effect of these written texts on cell growth.
