The British Endodontic Society would like to extend its welcome and congratulations to Dr Hal Duncan and wish him well in his new role. Hal takes over a highly successful academic journal, having been led by Professor Paul Dummer and his editorial team, since 1998.

The scope of the Journal is greater than ever before with 1066 manuscripts received in 2020, and 144 scientific papers published. The Impact Factor of the IEJ in 2019 was a record high of 3.801, and the journal was ranked 6th out of the 91 included in the Dentistry, Oral Surgery and Medicine category, its highest place ever. This meant that the IEJ once again was the top ranked journal in the field of endodontology.

The BES would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Professor Dummer, Susan Bryant (Editorial Coordinator) and the Associate Editors; without their hard work and dedication, this achievement would not have been possible.
