On the 13th July 2021, Göran Hedenstierna, Professor of Clinical Physiology and Researcher in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, died at the age of 79 years.

Prof. Göran Hedenstierna belongs to the generation of scientists who pioneered the scientific base of modern anesthesia and intensive care medicine.

Göran was born in Göteborg (Sweden) in 1941 and attended the high school at the Blackeberg’s gymnasium in Stockholm from 1952 to 1960. In 1961 he started the studies in medicine at Karolinska Institute where he received the M.D. in 1969.
