FKOR UNS Hosts Workshop on Building External Partnerships

UNSThe Faculty of Sports (FKOR) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conducted a workshop titled “Strategies for Building Partnerships with External Stakeholders.” The event took place at UNS Inn on Friday (12/6/2024). It featured Dr. Tri Hadi Karyono, S.Pd., M.Or., Vice Dean of Research, Cooperation, Information Systems, and Business at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), as the keynote speaker.

The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of FKOR UNS, Prof. Dr. Sapta Kunta Purnama, M.Pd., accompanied by the Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs, Dr. Rony Syaifullah, S.Pd., M.Pd., and the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Haris Nugroho, S.Pd., M.Or.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Sapta Kunta outlined the primary goal of the workshop: to enhance the faculty’s ability to establish collaborations with various external stakeholders, including educational institutions, industries, and national and international sports organizations.

“This workshop aims to provide insights into the importance of building networks, fostering strategic partnerships, and optimizing available resources to enhance the quality of education, research, and community service in the field of sports,” Prof. Sapta Kunta explained.

He emphasized that the development of sports science cannot thrive in isolation and requires synergy with external stakeholders. “Collaboration with external partners is essential in realizing our vision and mission as an educational institution focused on advancing sports science and technology,” he added.

The event is part of FKOR UNS’s efforts to strengthen its position as a higher education institution that prioritizes academic development and fosters meaningful collaborations that benefit all stakeholders involved.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Tri Hadi Karyono, S.Pd., M.Or., highlighted that partnerships are a critical component of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 6, which involves study programs collaborating with industry and other external stakeholders.

“In executing partnerships, several principles must be upheld, such as equality, productivity, delivering significant benefits to the university, considering cost and benefit factors, and adhering to ethical values,” Dr. Tri Hadi, who is also an alumnus of UNS’s Master’s Program in Sports Science, stated.

Dr. Tri Hadi Karyono elaborated on the steps for building effective partnerships, including mapping stakeholders, gathering and analyzing information, conducting partnership explorations, developing collaboration plans, drafting agreements, signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoU), implementing partnerships, monitoring and evaluating, and improving partnerships.

“Partnerships hold significant value, such as strengthening an institution’s role as an initiator of change, benefiting both the institution and its partners, expanding networks to boost competitiveness, increasing the employability of graduates, and enhancing global awareness and quality among academic members. These partnerships ultimately improve graduate competitiveness in national and global markets while elevating institutional reputation,” Dr. Tri Hadi added.

FKOR UNS lecturers participating in the workshop had the opportunity to engage directly with Dr. Tri Hadi, discussing effective strategies for establishing mutually beneficial partnerships and addressing potential challenges in the process.
