In the presence of Qatar University (QU)'s President, Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, the Sports Affairs Department at QU concluded its Ramadan grass football tournament, with participation from 16 teams representing various colleges of the university.

Two teams from the College of Engineering (Team A and Team D) advanced to the final match, with Team D emerging as the champions after defeating their counterparts with a score of 2-1.

In a statement on this occasion, Dr. Senaid Al-Merry, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at QU, stated, “QU aspires, through events like the grass football tournament and others, to instill a love for sports in every student, ensuring its continuity and recognition of its importance. Organizing such tournaments aligns with the department's goals of providing a sports environment for everyone, enhancing extracurricular activities for students, and discovering sports talents and gifted players.”

Dr. Al-Merry congratulated the winners from the College of Engineering and encouraged them to continue their engagement in sports, making it a lifestyle. He noted that organizing such tournaments is part of the department's goals to provide a sports environment for everyone, enhance extracurricular activities for students, and discover sports talents and gifted players. Moreover, the grass football tournament was distinguished by being organized and managed by students, providing them with the opportunity to participate as organizers, referees, and players, thereby promoting communication, acquaintance, and allegiance to the university among students.

In his remarks, Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji, Dean of the College of Engineering, expressed his great satisfaction and pride that the two teams qualifying for the final were from the College of Engineering. He congratulated the winning team and participated in crowning them with the championship cup.

On his part, Abdulrahman Jalal, a student and the captain of the winning team from the College of Engineering, Team D, said, “We were crowned champions after great effort from all team members, playing with the spirit of teamwork. I thank QU for organizing the tournament and providing all logistical and service-related support to ensure the success of this tournament.”
