UNS Holds Gathering and Iftar with University Leadership and Media

UNS – The leadership of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an iftar gathering with journalists during Ramadan 1445H, on Tuesday (19/3/2024). The iftar gathering took place in Meeting Room IV of the dr. Prakosa Building, UNS. Acting Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., welcomed the invited guests who were present.

Acting Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Kuncoro Diharjo, S.T., M.T., and the Head of the Public Relations and Media Center of UNS, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto, S.Or., M.Or., also attended the event. Addressing the staff of the Public Relations and Media Center of UNS, Public Relations Officers from faculties and units, as well as journalists, Prof. Irwan expressed his gratitude for their presence at the iftar gathering.

For him, this event is not only about sharing meals and camaraderie but also about appreciating the relationships that have been built with the media over time. The media plays a crucial role in connecting UNS with the community, expanding its vision and mission, and helping to achieve the university’s major goals.

“On behalf of the UNS leadership, we express our gratitude for the cooperation from our media friends all this time,” Prof. Irwan said.

UNS is always committed to making a positive contribution to society. Collaboration with the media is the key to success in fulfilling this commitment. Through coverage, reports, and the dissemination of accurate and balanced information, the media help UNS stay connected with the community. Additionally, the media contributes to sharing important messages with a wider audience.

In a rapidly evolving world, the role of the media is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, UNS greatly appreciates the hard work and dedication of its media partners in delivering the latest news. This includes the achievements of the campus in education, research, and community service.

Prof. Irwan also expressed gratitude for the internal support in the news production process at UNS. This support is also provided by the staff of the Public Relations and Media Center of UNS and the Public Relations Officers from faculties and units, respectively.

“We thank you for your collaboration on many fronts, supporting the information dissemination activities of faculties, schools, and units in the context of organizing events,” he added.

The tangible role of cooperation between UNS and the media is reflected in its ranking as 7th nationally and 1014th globally in the Webometric ranking at the end of January 2024. UNS’s ranking rose from previously occupying the position of 1,037. This result places UNS above several other universities, one of which is Diponegoro University (Undip).

“UNS can maintain its position among the top 7 nationally. Globally, this is an improvement. At the end of 2023, we (UNS) also received two public relations awards (Editor’s Note: Diktiristek Public Relations Awards 2023) for press releases and magazines. Once again, we appreciate this,” said Prof. Irwan.
