UNS – The Bengawan UV Team from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta brought home awards from the International Roboboat Competition 2024 in Sarasota, Florida, United States. The competition took place from February 5th to 11th, 2024.

The International Roboboat Competition is one of the international competitions organized by robonation, focusing on Autonomous Surface Vehicles. It was attended by 18 teams from various countries, and Bengawan UV secured the 6th Place of Autonomy Challenge Award.

Daffa, the head of Bengawan UV and a Mechanical Engineering student at FT UNS, stated that this competition has become an annual activity for the Bengawan UV team, and this is the second time “we” participated in the International Roboboat Competition on-site.

“Alhamdulillah, in 2024 we achieved excellent results where we advanced further to the final round and received the 6th place of autonomy challenge award out of 18 teams worldwide, along with several other awards such as 3rd Overall Design, 4th Website, 4th Technical Design Report, 4th Place Team Video, and 5th Place System Assessment,” Daffa explained.

Linggar from the Roboboat Bengawan UV team added that the obstacles faced by the Bengawan UV Team in participating in the on-site Roboboat Competition 2024 were certainly not cheap and easy. The struggle of the Bengawan UV Team in researching this competition progressively shows that this team is capable of competing with teams from all over the world.

“We are happy and grateful to have the opportunity to compete and exchange knowledge with participants from abroad, which is a valuable experience for our team in keeping up with technological advancements that can be applied to our vehicles,” Linggar said.  HUMAS UNS
