FK UNS Holds Sharing Success Story Alumni Event 2024

UNS – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta currently ranks 3rd as the best medical faculty in Indonesia according to the Time Higher Education World University Ranking (THE WUR). This achievement is partly due to the role played by UNS FK alumni. Therefore, FK UNS always strives to maintain good relations with its alumni.

Held at the Soetjipto Building Auditorium of FK UNS, the Sharing Success Story Alumni event for the year 2024 took place. This event is held annually by FK UNS. Besides celebrating the 48th Dies Natalis of UNS, the event aims to provide insights for attending students through the achievements of successful alumni in their careers. It is hoped that this will serve as motivation and exemplary guidance for students entering the workforce and business world.

On this occasion, FK UNS welcomed Major General (Mayjen) TNI. Dr. Prihati Pujowaskito, dr., Sp.JP(K)., FIHA., MMRS as the outstanding alumni of FK UNS for the year 2024. He currently serves as the Dean of the Military Medicine Faculty at Universitas Pertahanan Indonesia.

The 2024 Sharing Success Story event was attended by the FK UNS Dean’s Office, FK UNS alumni from the 1986 batch, the FK UNS Alumni Family Management, and FK UNS students.

In his address, FK UNS Dean, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), emphasized the significance of alumni positions as they influence the reputation of FK UNS both in accreditation and global rankings, one of which is the contribution from alumni regarding international collaboration and international recognition.

“We entrust the prestigious name of FK UNS to be always maintained and elevated because this is your alma mater, where you once gained knowledge,” Prof. Reviono said during the event held on Friday (8/3/2024).

The Chairperson of the FK UNS Alumni Family, dr. Sri Pratomo, SpB., FinaCS., FiCS, in his speech, outlined four things that individuals must do to achieve success.

“The first is consistency; the second is that success belongs only to responsible individuals; the third is to ensure that you are surrounded by people with the same vision; and the fourth is to focus on the process rather than the goal,” Dr. Sri Pratomo said.

He stated that to succeed, a person must be multi-talented, willing to learn from all areas, and study anything to gain more knowledge.

Sharing his life journey, Major General TNI Pujowaskito emphasized not giving up easily and always being enthusiastic about seizing every opportunity available. Shortcomings should not be considered weaknesses but rather motivators to become better individuals.

“Success is a process because in the stages of success there are inputs and outputs, and these inputs and outputs belong to God Almighty. In the process, there is effort and prayer. When I talk about output, I mean if I can receive blessings from God Almighty and if my presence can be beneficial to many people. But if I talk about input, then we cannot choose how we are born, which family we are born into, or which country we are born in; that is all in the hands of God Almighty. If we truly understand this, then success here is a journey from achieving our planned goals to achieving the next goals,” he explained.

He mentioned that one of the supporting factors for success is the quantity of colleagues or networks, as having more connections makes it easier to achieve success. “In my work, I view my colleagues as individuals I must collaborate with. Collaboration here is like putting together a puzzle; if we collaborate to arrange a picture, even though it may initially be scattered, because we have the same vision and the same picture, it will be easier to complete the task,” Major General TNI Pujowaskito said.

For him, there is no competition in collaboration because there is only contribution, aiming to give the best for the same goal.

At the end of the event, he expressed his gratitude for the award as the outstanding alumni of the year. He is committed to always supporting and upholding the good name of his alma mater, UNS.

“I, representing successful alumni, feel proud and honored to receive this award. We also congratulate UNS on its 48th Dies Natalis. It is an institution that is renowned for its significant contributions to the world of knowledge and society,” Major General TNI Pujowaskito concluded. HUMAS UNS
