Endoscopic retrieval of migrated Foley catheter: A clinical case series

Colonic irrigation is a popular treatment promoted for a wide range of conditions [1]. Use of the Foley catheter for rectal irrigation in Hirschsprung disease or patients with spinal injuries is a common practice [2], [3]. It is widely used for colostomy irrigation prior to colonoscopy or barium studies and for administration of large bowel enema to manage constipation [4]. Accidental migration of catheter during colostomy irrigation can take place if it is not secured externally to the skin. Here we present two patients who were referred from the surgery department with internally migrated Foley catheter which were retrieved endoscopically. See Fig. 1..
