What makes a good supervisor?

Supervision is a critical feature of research education and training, yet there is often limited attention paid to the skills and expertise required. Good supervision can motivate and inspire students to develop into strong independent scholars. Poor supervision leads to negative experiences, frustration, poor performance and limited professional development.
