Moving beyond the central dogma of genetics in auditory and vestibular neurobiology

In 1953, James Watson and Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins and colleagues, and Rosalind Franklin with Raymond Gosling, published a series of papers confirming the double-stranded helical structure of DNA (Franklin & Gosling, 1953; Watson & Crick, 1953; Wilkins et al., 1953). Shortly thereafter, Francis Crick proposed the central dogma of genetics (Crick, 1958), and this theory has dominated molecular biology and
