Reducing barriers of access and care related to hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy: The mission-driven role of the national marrow donor program

Hematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapies (TCT) are potentially curative treatments for malignant and non-malignant hematologic disorders. In spite of the scientific, clinical, and technological advancements and successes of these therapies, barriers in access and utilization remain. In this review, we examine the existing barriers to care, highlight some emerging barriers, and enumerate approaches to mitigate or eliminate these barriers.
