Using Semi-Precision Fertilizer Equipment, UNS Students Win Gold Medal in WYIE Event Malaysia

UNS — Students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta made another proud achievement on the international stage. This achievement was presented by Perdana Mangayu Bagyo, a student of the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture (FP) UNS.

The student who is familiarly called Perdana won the Gold Medal in the Agriculture category at the World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE) organized by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), Malaysia. He carried the Sefition innovation (semi-precision fertilizer innovation), which is a semi-precision fertilizer tool.

For this achievement, Perdana said he was happy and grateful. “Alhamdulillah, I didn’t expect to get a gold medal. Because this is my first competition abroad with extraordinary competitors, while my idea is simple, it turns out that I can get a gold medal,” Perdana said when contacted by uns.ac.id on Tuesday (23/5/2023).

While participating in this competition, Perdana admitted that he was happy because he could establish relations with various countries. Also he can see many innovations that can later become references to be developed in Indonesia.

Perdana added that the tip when participating in competitions is to respect the jury more. Because when he took part in the event, he saw that in other booths the jury was left standing, while I asked the jury to sit on a chair.

“Then we also have to be able to demonstrate innovation in a more tangible way, so that the judges can believe that our innovation can be applied in society,” he continued.

Finally, Perdana hopes that in the future it will be able to commercialize and foster other innovations. “My message to friends, don’t be afraid to try while it’s a good thing,” he concluded. Humas UNS
