Dr. Ibrahim al Ansari, Dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University (QU) Library and Asma Al-Buainain, Library Director greeted Prof. Damir Mukhetdinov, First Vice-Chairman, Muslims’ Spiritual Directorate in Russia and other members of the delegation to the QU Library.

As an ongoing collaboration and partnership with the Russian Embassy, Dr. Damir presented and delivered a lecture titled ‘History of Islam in Russia: Past and Present’ for QU students, and donated seven titles to the library.

The presentation was well attended by students and faculty members and covered the history of the formation and dynamics of the development of Islam in Russia as well as the role of the Islamic factor in the history of Russia.

Among the literature for the presentation was The Holy Quran (1716) a unique reprint edition of the first translation of the Quran into Russian as well as Sistima (1722) and a reprint edition of “The Book of Sistima, or the Condition of the Muhammadan Religion.”  The presentation comprised of impressive works of art and photographs from the collections of the Medina Publishing House as well as historical maps.
