BPKP Goes to Campus Comes to UNS, Holds Interactive Talkshow

UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta had the opportunity to become a higher education institution which BPKP Goes to Campus aimed to do. Both collaborated by holding an Interactive Talkshow event at the Auditorium G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS, Wednesday (17/5/2023).

This interactive talk show was attended by UNS students. The enthusiasm of the students was evident in those who wanted to gain discussion experience with the theme “Kolaborasi Mengawal Akuntabilitas untuk Pembangunan yang Berkelanjutan” (Collaboration to Guard Accountability for Sustainable Development).

The visit of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to UNS was in commemoration of the institution’s 40th anniversary, an age that is no longer young for a state institution with a myriad of contributions.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., and the Head of BPKP, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, Ak., M.B.A. were present at this event. On this occasion, Prof. Jamal emphasized that public accountability is an aspect that must be fulfilled by government institutions in carrying out government functions, including in the context of supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Prof. Jamal also invited all parties to support the role of BPKP. This of course aims to realize improvements in development accountability in various fields in the government sector.

“We must always support the role of BPKP together to realize improvements in various fields in our government sector to oversee the accountability of sustainable regional development,” Prof. Jamal said.

BPKP’s role and government accountability are integral parts of our efforts to achieve sustainable development that is inclusive and environmentally sound. Prof. Jamal emphasized that through synergy between BPKP, government accountability, and various other stakeholders, we can ensure that sustainable development is well realized.

The collaboration between UNS and BPKP has been going on for a long time. One of them is through advanced study collaboration classes at both the Bachelor and Postgraduate levels for the development of Human Resources (HR) at BPKP. In addition, BPKP and the Center for Science and Technology Excellence (PUI) Center for Fintech and Banking in 2022 conducted joint research regarding the maturity evaluation of the integrated internal control system and its impact on local governments throughout Indonesia.

“Let’s improve coordination between the government, the private sector, supervisory agencies and civil society to achieve a common goal,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of BPKP, Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, Ak., M.B.A. stated that there is a need for synergy and collaboration between internal supervisors and academics to increase accountability in the public sector. This is to answer the dynamics of problems that change rapidly.

“BPKP needs input from academics to provide input from an academic point of view,” he said.

He stated that the theory taught on campus and practice in the field must be aligned. Moreover, the development of theory is changing so quickly. “We (BPKP) are ready to provide input from experience and reality on the ground, as well as when the campus provides input to BPKP which will make supervision even better in the future,” he said.

Another excitement of BPKP Goes to Campus can also be found in the fun booth provided for participants. The main agenda of the Interactive Talkshow was a public lecture session by three speakers. The three sources were Rahmad Karim Harahap, Sutaryo, and Moch. Chozinuddin Holil. Humas UNS
