UNS Students Win 1st Place in KPM UNJ National Scientific Writing Competition

UNS — Students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta had again made achievements at the national level. They are Dea Muthia Febry from the Physics Education Study Program, Karisma Rahmawati from the Physics Education Study Program, and Zamia Atha Putri from the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program. The three of them just won first place in the National Scientific Writing Competition organized by the Young Research Group (KPM) Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ).

When interviewed by uns.ac.id on Sunday (14/5/2023), Dea said that the idea proposed in the writing competition was related to educational innovation. Furthermore, Dea and her team said that research on technological developments in education is not easy. This is because testing must be carried out by implementing it in a class or study group, both on a large and small scale.

“Also, a validation stage is also needed. In the early stages of research, observations need to be made to obtain an analysis of the needs of the students. After a solution is found, the solution as an educational innovation needs to be discussed with material and media experts and revised to suit the needs and validation of the experts. However we are very happy and grateful because our hard work has paid off by successfully bringing home the first-place title,” Dea said.

Meanwhile, Dea added, the trick to conquering a scientific writing competition is to present innovation not only as a finished product but also as something that been tested. So that at the time of presentation the ideas and research flow can be conveyed in detail to the jury.

“As the next generation of young people, we need to contribute to the development of education in Indonesia by presenting innovation. Thus, we hope that in the future education in Indonesia will be able to face the challenges of the global megatrend era,” she continued.

Lastly, Dea and the team advised people to find their passion and contribute according to that passion. “For example, because I come from an education study program and I have an interest in the world of learning, that’s where I will have room to contribute. Namely by always conducting research and providing ideas for education in Indonesia,” she concluded. Humas UNS
