Li-ion batteries are standard in electric vehicles, but their energy density is still largely below that of gasoline, which limits applications in heavy-duty or long-haul transportation. Now, writing in Science, Mohammad Asadi, Larry A. Curtiss and colleagues present a Li–air battery that could be used to deploy electrification solutions to more sectors.
