The results of a new study suggest that VEXAS (vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X-linked, autoinflammatory, somatic) syndrome, although rare, could be more common than previously thought. The findings also expand the clinical spectrum of VEXAS syndrome, which is caused by somatic mutations in UBA1 and was first identified in 2020.
