Professional Psychology: Research and Practice. 2020;51(6):571-579. https://doi.org/10.1037/pro0000274. Brown et al. (2020) explore TGD clients’ experiences of seeking a letter from a mental health provider for GAMC. Qualitative results found mixed perspectives of this letter process—either as a blessing, such as to create access to desired GAMC, or as “BS,” such as creating an unnecessary barrier. This is one of the only studies to explore TGD community members’ perspectives on the referral letter process that impacts a large portion of TGD adults.
