T cells feed into cancer immune escape

Metabolic reprogramming in tumour cells is known to dampen antitumour immunity, however, whether immunosurveillance can guide tumour metabolism remained unexplored. Tsai et al. now show that interferon-γ (IFNγ), released during T cell-mediated immunosurveillance, drives MYC-dependent metabolic reprogramming in tumour cells to support their proliferation and immune escape.
