Robotic-Assisted Splenectomy in Pediatric Patients

Laparoscopic splenectomy remains the standard surgical treatment for many pediatric patients with hematologic disorders.1,2 Although experience is limited due to instrument size, robotic-assisted surgeries are increasingly being used in the pediatric population and may provide several advantages including shorter hospital length of stay, decreased postoperative pain, improved ergonomics and high fidelity three-dimensional image quality compared to traditional laparoscopic technology.3, 4, 5, 6
