ABSTRACT

Deliberate hypotension during anesthesia or hypotensive anesthesia is often used in major maxillofacial surgeries that are at risk of considerable intraoperative bleeding. The outcome of this type of interventions depends on the quality of the surgical field conditions. The level of the blood pressure reduction should be adjusted to the patient’s comorbidities. Careful patient selection and close monitoring with adequate intraoperative volume replacement are mandatory for its safe implementation in surgical cases.
