The comparator was standard diabetes support and education. A within-trial economic evaluation was conducted and the cost-effectiveness of the Look AHEAD intervention vs comparator was unclear.

Long-term weight loss following a randomised controlled trial of a weight management programme for men delivered through professional football clubs: the Football Fans in Training follow-up study. Public Health Res. 2018;6(9):1–114. This study is a 3.5-year follow-up of an older UK randomised controlled trial published in one of the economic evaluations included in the review (Wyke et al. 2015). This is also one of the most recent model-based economic evaluations with a lifetime horizon for costs and outcomes. The updated cost-effectiveness results showed that the WMP delivered in a football club for men remained cost-effective compared to being given a booklet on losing weight.
