Delving into insulin receptor regulation

Hyperinsulinaemia is associated with insulin resistance and insulin stimulation is known to reduce cell surface levels of the insulin receptor (InsR). However, the regulatory mechanisms behind this process are not well studied. A new study in Nature Metabolism has identified a tyrosine kinase receptor, Eph receptor B4 (EPHB4), that is involved in insulin-induced InsR degradation.
