The genetic architecture of schizophrenia is shared with that of abnormalities in subcortical brain volumes, according to new work published in Molecular Psychiatry. Use of novel statistical methods established the genetic relationship, which suggests that schizophrenia is the manifestation of altered early neurodevelopmental processes.
