A 51-year-old man, only treated with levodopa, underwent subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease. Immediate postoperative computed tomography (CT) was normal (Fig. 1A). Stimulation led to major clinical improvement allowing a dramatic reduction of antiparkinsonian treatment (1400 mg levodopa daily dose before surgery vs. 100 mg after surgery).
