Leaving cancer in the cold

Cold external temperatures can inhibit the growth of tumours, according to new data published by the Cao group in Nature. In their study, the authors show that increased glucose consumption by cold-activated brown adipose tissue (BAT) deprives cancer cells of glucose, inhibiting their growth and improving survival in mouse models of cancer.
